A rare 'Micro Harvest Moon' will appear this weekend

Rare full Harvest micromoon is coming Friday the 13th

And Cherri Carrigan tweeted: "The occurrence of a Full Moon on Friday 13th is actually pretty rare".

While Friday the 13 is usually considered a day of bad lucky, you may be fortunate enough to view the Harvest Moon, especially if you try in the middle of the night.

Even though the full moon only occurs at a specific moment in time, it will appear perfectly circular to our eyes for about 24 hours before and after.

So why is this timing so special?

The next time a full moon will coincide with Friday the 13th will be August 13, 2049.

That means Friday the 13th will be extra spooky! This rarity hasn't happened since a full moon appeared on October 13, 2000.

In central and western parts of the USA, however, the Harvest Moon will appear on Friday.

Austin's homer allows Brewers to get past Cubs
For the Brewers, Adrian Houser started on the bump, and he pitched six innings of 4-run ball, in which he fanned six. Taking three of four from the Cubs , the Brewers wrapped up the 4-game set with an 8-5 victory on Sunday.

The moon will be at its full size on the East Coast at 12:33 a.m. Saturday, the 14th.

What sets the Harvest Moon apart is that typically the moon rises an average of 50 minutes later each night, but the Harvest Moon rises only about 30 minutes later every day around the fall equinox, experts say.

The Harvest Moon this week is the ninth Full Moon of the year and one of the most chilling spectacles of astronomy.

So while keeping an eye out for werewolves, goblins and ghosts, check out the full moon!

RED MORE: What is the meaning behind the Harvest Moon name? As a result, the full moon this week will appear about 14 percent smaller.

The opposite of a micromoon is a "supermoon" when the the moon is at perigee, or at the closest point to the Earth in its orbit.
