Facebook experimenting with hiding post like counts

Facebook May Soon Get Rid of Like Counts, Too

"I observed that Facebook has recently begun prototyping this hidden like/reaction count feature in their Android app", Wong wrote in a blog post on Monday. Tech code explorer Jane Manchun Wong and Industry consultant Andrew Curry both within minutes have revealed two new changes within the latest builds.

At this point it's pretty much impossible to confirm if hiding likes will become a full-fledged feature, but the fact that it's being tested tested a second app suggests that Facebook is taking the consideration very seriously.

Social platforms are paying more attention to the benefits - or lack thereof - attached to vanity metrics.

Facebook is looking at restricting the display of "likes" that appear below posts.

Facebook confirmed to TechCrunch that it is considering a trial which would see the number of likes a post gets hidden from the public.

United Kingdom gov't loses working majority in parliament
The Conservative's majority in Parliament has been cut to zero after Phillip Lee announced he is joining the Lib Dems. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson lost his working majority in parliament on Tuesday.

Facebook confirmed the news to TechCrunch, and they said that they are now considering doing a test that would hide like counts. "The list of people who liked/reacted will still be accessible, but the amount will be hidden".

The mental health and stress that can cause dependence on the number of likes, comparisons with other people and the little value that, in general, brings this number when assessing the content of a person are some of the reasons behind this decision.

The social network is considering hiding the Like counter on posts in News Feed - in a move created to stop users feeling envious. That means only you will be able to see your posts' like counts, just like the feature works on Instagram.

Instagram started the like hiding take a look at in Canada in April and added Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Eire, and Japan to the take a look at in July. A 2017 study in the United Kingdom found that, of all major social media platforms, Instagram had the worst effect on young people's mental health. "The screen tells users 'We've made it easier for you to do what you want". That's all problematic for Fb's advert views.
