Ivorian Musician DJ Arafat dies in road crash

Ange Didier Huon, an Ivorian singer, known as DJ Arafat is dead.

The artist died as a result of serious injuries he sustained during the accident.

DJ Arafat, an Ivorian singer with a huge following in francophone Africa, has died after a road accident in Abidjan, state broadcaster RTI said yesterday.

Per what we gathered, he had been driving a motorbike and he smashed it into a auto. He was reportedly taken to an Abidjan hospital, where he died.

The Ivorian was the champion of the Coupe- Decale sound which was embraced by many artistes across the continent, including Kenyan gospel singer Daddy Owen.

AFP reporters at the Abidjan hospital where he died said that within hours of the reports being shared, around 1,000 fans had gathered outside, weeping and chanting "Arafat can not die".

Footage of the crash widely shared on social media shows the headlights of Dj Arafat's motorcycle approaching an intersection just as a vehicle suddenly joins his lane, sending the superstar DJ crashing into its rear.

He was born in the music world.

"He had a natural charisma", said Ozone, a hip hop producer and television host.
