Canadian police reveal cause of death of teen killers

Autopsy results expected today in case of northern B.C. teen murder suspects

The two young men from Port Alberni, B.C., were suspected in the deaths of Australian Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend Chynna Deese and charged with the second-degree murder of Leonard Dyck, a Vancouver university lecturer.

Previously, the RCMP were tight-lipped about details surrounding the autopsies on Schmegelsky and McLeod and an item of interest was found near their bodies.

"We are aware of the ad and can confirm that we still have this boat in our possession", Sgt. Paul Manaigre said.

Chynna Deese, 24, and her boyfriend, Lucas Fowler, 23, were found shot dead on a remote highway in northern British Columbia on July 15.

Police first said they found a damaged aluminum boat along the river that day.

RCMP Assistant Commissioner Kevin Hackett has said it would be "extremely hard for us to ascertain definitively what the motive was".

"There was significant evidence that linked our suspects to both crime scenes", Hackett said last week.

The Manitoba Medical Examiner completed the autopsies on two bodies located in Manitoba on August 7, and both confirmed their identities and that the two died in suicides by gunfire.

He said there doesn't appear to be anything linking the victims.

Special prayers were also offered for the prosperity of the country and unity among the Muslim Ummah. Afghan men greet each other after offering Eid al-Adha prayers in Jalalabad on September 1, 2017.

"The examination of the area where (their bodies) were located.is still being dealt with and searched".

At a tight-lipped press conference, police offered little information beyond that they believed the bodies were Schmegelsky and McLeod.

RCMP said two firearms were found alongside McLeod and Schmegelsky's bodies, and that forensic analysis was underway to determine whether the weapons were connected to the murders of Deese, Fowler and Dyck.

The teenage serial-murder suspects found dead after a almost three-week manhunt fatally shot themselves, Canadian police said Monday.

The RCMP has not revealed how Schmegelsky and McLeod died or what the item found in the vicinity was.

Investigators say they're now assessing all the items found in Manitoba along with everything found in relation to the three homicides in B.C.to better understand what happened.

RCMP say they've finished searching the area where the two bodies were found, which was approximately eight kilometres from where a burned RAV4 - connected to the teens - was located on July 22. However, the exact time and date of their deaths are not known.

The BC RCMP says once they have completed that review within the next few weeks, they will be providing the families with an update with respect to the totality of the investigations and then releasing the information publicly.
