Trump to announce ‘judgement’ against Turkey for buying S-400

"With the will of God, we will put the final word on the S-400 in April 2020", Erdogan added. The opposite would mean the loss of Turkey's recent gains. And this weekend, Leonid Slutsky-the head of the foreign affairs committee of Russia's lower house of parliament-said the controversial agreement is "the first shot" in a new era of military cooperation between Moscow and Ankara.

The eighth plane carrying components of Russian S-400 air defence systems arrived in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Monday.

As CNN's Tim Lister writes, the $2 billion deal between Russian Federation and Turkey calls into question the decades-long strategic relationship between Turkey and the US.

A follow-up second shipment of equipment needed to make the S-400s operational was received by Turkey on Saturday.

S-400 "Triumf" went into service in Russian Federation in 2007. He stressed that despite appeals from the US, Turkey will not abandon the purchase of the S-400.

The New Zealand captain has been the backbone of the Kiwi batting and has scored 30 per cent of his team's runs in this World Cup. Boult took a catch but fell backward and trod onto the boundary cushion before he had time to release the ball.

Despite Trump's warm words, U.S officials said last week the administration still planned to act.

Katie Wheelbarger, acting assistant defense secretary for global security affairs, stated that all North Atlantic Treaty Organisation nations have asked Turkey to stop the procurement of the system, and that Ankara refused the American offers of purchasing the Patriot system instead.

Ankara, also a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member, says the S-400 will not be integrated into North Atlantic Treaty Organisation systems and doesn't pose a threat to the alliance.

USA officials have mentioned that along with being hit with laws aimed toward preventing countries from buying military equipment from Russian Federation, referred to as CAATSA, Turkey might be thrown off the F-35 stealth fighter jet program. In addition, the United States threatened sanctions over the purchase, with Turkey responding that any sanctions would be met in kind. As President Putin has been proven a much more reliable ally for his Turkish counterpart, it is very unlikely that he will cancel the procurement of the S-400.

To note, the US has threatened sanctions over the purchase of the systems, arguing the Russian system would be incompatible with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation systems and expose the F-35s to possible Russian subterfuge.
