Twitter Experiencing a Worldwide Outage Caused by a Service Disruption

DownDetector

Twitter seems to be finding its voice again.

Twitter users worldwide were unable to access the social-networking site for about an hour Thursday, with an outage that affected both mobile and web platforms.

"Something is technically wrong", read the error message greeting users trying to access the site, starting before noon PT.

Outage tracking website Downdetector.com showed that there are almost 70,000 incidents of people across the globe reporting issues with Twitter.

Reddit was also reportedly having issues this morning, continuing the trend of multiple platforms having problems back-to-back.

"Miss us?" Twitter tweeted from its official account as the Great Twitter Outage wound down.

Planned ICE raids cause fear for migrant families in West Michigan
Such a massive round-up would usually be kept under wraps to avoid alerting those who will be targeted. Don't open the door, said Estela Vara, an immigration activist with PASO West Suburban Action Project.

According to DownDetector.com, more than 100,000 users have reported the outage.

The Twitter API Status dashboard indicates that the company is now investigating the issue.

Twitter blamed the outage on an "internal configuration change". "Thanks for noticing-we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon".

Users have started reporting that the crash might have been resolved as of 8:43 p.m. This comes as a surprise since Twitter has a proven track record of maintaining its service even when social media giants like Facebook and Instagram suffer service disruption.
