All X-Men Movies Ranked Best to Worst, By Rotten Tomatoes Rating

After having its release date pushed back a few times, and having to reshoot the third act of the movie, Dark Phoenix finally arrived in theaters this weekend.

Now that Disney has a hold of the X-Men franchise, the series will likely be rebooted. The Professor X (James McAvoy)/Magneto (Michael Fassbender) dynamic was as intense as ever, thanks to Fassbender's grinding teeth. Globe-trotting without feeling like it gets anywhere, packed with quips without being amusing, and featuring muddy, messy action devoid of excitement, Godzilla II is a mostly pointless in-between instalment before the inevitable King Kong/Godzilla showdown to come. Ororo Munroe/Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver (Evan Peters) receive less attention.

Given that both Dark Phoenix and Captain Marvel centre cosmically-empowered women who journey into the stars as part of their character arcs, it made sense that Fox wouldn't want audiences to see Jean as cramping Carol's style. Captain Marvel was not a flawless movie, but it definitely benefited from having two women working on the screenplay. The similarities between Dark Phoenix and this year's box office smash Captain Marvel are there from the beginning: a female protagonist is imbued with incredible cosmic powers that she can't control and in the process, learns locked-away secrets about her own identity. In this latest episode of the Rotten Tomatoes Aftershow, host Mark Ellis asks just that, and our special guests Maude Garrett, Scott Mantz, and Sharronda Williams tackle the question as the discuss the pros and cons - from the big action set pieces to whether it will please fans - of Dark Phoenix. Apparently, it was a little too close to another Marvel film - Captain America: Civil War. Maybe not as many as you'd expect from a mainline MCU movie, of course, but they're still there.

Journalist charged with attempting to deal 'large amount' of drugs
The arrest sparked a wave of criticism, with dozens of Russian journalists and public figures voicing their concern for Golunov. Golunov, a reporter for the Latvia-based independent Meduza news site, was detained by police in downtown Moscow on June 6.

Dark Phoenix is now in theaters. That was also a bleak film, far more so than "Dark Phoenix". The ending of "Logan" also works in a bold and poignant way, providing the kind of closure that any story could be proud of. Let us know in the comment section below.

He joined the fight and ended up dying not long after he was introduced. And Dafne Keen gives a rage-filled and emotional performance as Wolverine clone/daughter Laura, aka X23. In addition to its heart, it is buoyed by an interesting concept - a superhero-movie-as-Western, with visual references to classic Westerns like "Shane" (1953), "The Cowboys" (1972) and "Unforgiven" (1992). As they leave to head toward an uncertain future, his daughter turns his grave marker on its side to make it an X instead of a cross. The trailers for Dark Phoenix have focused on the disagreements among the X-Men over what to do with fiery Jean Grey, similar to Iron Man and Captain America bickering over the Sokovia Accords in Civil War.
