Jets fire GM Mike Maccagnan, HC Adam Gase named interim GM

Mike Maccagnan Out as Jets GM Adam Gase Gets Interim Title

Many in the NY media said I was insane, and one well-known radio host called me clueless.

NY made the borderline shocking announcement Tuesday that it fired general manager Mike Maccagnan as well as VP of player personnel Brian Heimerdinger. Clearly the GM and his newly-hired coach did not see eye-to-eye. The Jets signed Bell to a huge free-agent contract in the offseason. Maccagnan, however, had all the juice when it came to talent acquisition and over.

If you're a NY sports fan who puts your support behind the Knicks and Jets, well, you've had better days.

New York, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, could also follow the Raiders' lead and hire Daniel Jeremiah away from NFL Media.

Oh, about that. Gase now is the 20th general manager in the AFC East over the last two decades, joining a carousel of castoffs that rivals the Cleveland Browns' famous quarterback list.

The world's largest social media companies are promising to take stronger action to prevent the spread of violent extremism online.

Maccagnan, who was hired as GM in 2015, was not relieved of his duties this past offseason when coach Todd Bowles was sacked - leading many to assume that Maccagnan's job was not in jeopardy.

Heimerdinger and Maccagnan worked together in Houston, and Heimerdinger joined the Jets three years ago.

Gase made the argument that he didn't want the Jets to spend a lot of money on any running back.

A rift reportedly grew between Maccagnan and Gase weeks after the head coach was hired in January.

Philadelphia Eagles vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas, who is believed to be close to Gase, could be the man to replace Maccagnan fulltime, ESPN reported.
