Firefighters rescue two people dangling from Oklahoma City skyscraper

A lift at the top of the Devon Tower in Oklahoma city was hit by high winds while two people were on board on Wednesday

A large basket with people inside it was "wildly swinging out of control" at the top of a tower in Oklahoma City, officials said on May 15, before an update saying the people inside were rescued.

Two people were on the lift when it became loose at around 7:45 a.m. and began swaying so violently it hit part of the 52-floor tower and broke glass, according to Oklahoma's News 4.

Fire battalion chief Benny Fulkerson described the rescue effort as "tedious" but successful.

Police closed the area to traffic.

Video Released Shows Woman Pushing Elderly Man Off Bus, He Later Died
It's alleged she was argumentative with people on the bus and as the man stepped off she and him were involved in a dispute. The father of Bishop's son told police that Bishop was violent, and that he was no longer with her because of it.

Paramedics checked the workers out, CNN affiliate KOCO reported, and they refused treatment.

Video from the fire department - taken from the ground - shows the basket swinging at about 8 a.m. Wednesday as firefighters tried to get it under control. He said the cause of the accident is under investigation.

One Twitter user, sharing dramatic footage of the incident, earlier wrote: "Happening right now: workers stuck on a lift or window washing scaffold are trapped in high winds at Devon Tower in Oklahoma City".

The company will also investigate the incident.
