Student: Colorado School Shooting Suspect ‘Always Joked’ About Mass Shootings

Two students open fire at Colorado school killing one wounding eightMore

The two teens are accused of opening fire on fellow students on Tuesday inside two separate classrooms at the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) charter school in Highlands Ranch, about 25 miles south of Denver. The official did not address whether anyone was hit by the security guard's firing.

Within a week of that shooting, which killed 17 a year ago, Parkland students marched on the Florida state capitol and told lawmakers, "We've had enough of thoughts and prayers...we are coming after every single one of you and demanding that you take action".

An anonymous complaint almost five months before a deadly shooting at the STEM School Highlands Ranch alleged that a "high-pressure environment" made it susceptible to an attack like the ones that happened at Columbine and Arapahoe high schools.

He said, "We're back now to tell you we love Kendrick and we love all of the survivors".

He said the guard has not been interviewed since.

Jones said he never specifically thought how he would react in such a situation.

Cecilia Bedard, 19, had known Castillo since elementary school and said he was always friendly, modest and excited to help people.

The attackers were identified by law-enforcement officials as 18-year-old Devon Erickson and a 16-year-old who prosecutors identified as Maya McKinney but whose attorney said uses male pronouns and the name Alec.

Spurlock said at the same news conference that investigators were working with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to determine how the suspects obtained the weapons. "He doesn't even realize how many lives he saved by stopping a school shooting", says Whitus, a former SWAT team leader who responded to the 1999 Columbine massacre.

UEFA To Seek Champions League Ban For Manchester City
UEFA punished City for FFP breaches in 2014 but opened a new investigation earlier this year following fresh allegations.

The suspects had been scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon to learn the charges against them.

The school said it conducted an investigation, which included informing 2,800 parents of the allegations "in the hopes" that somebody would "confidentially" come forward with information.

Two other students wrestled the gun from the shooter's hand and subdued him.

The school, represented by conservative lawyer Barry Arrington, sued the anonymous caller for defamation on January 17, Colorado Public Radio (CPR) reported.

KUSA-TV reported that a district letter summarizing the complaint said that the parent expressed concerns about the possibility of a repeat of the school shootings at nearby Columbine and Arapahoe high schools.

But the school's executive director, Penelope Eucker, said in a statement to CNN: "The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is our highest priority". They eventually returned to the vigil to speak. Michael Bennet (D-Colorado) and Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colorado) each took a turn calling for gun control at the Douglas County event before students streamed out in protest.

Fernando Montoya told The Denver Channel his son, who was shot three times but is expected to survive, told him a shooter produced a gun from a guitar case.

An aspiring Marine, Bialy said the incident will give him the confidence to act when called upon when he begins service.
