Donald Trump Jr. agrees to Senate committee interview

"Republicans said privately on Monday they were eager to avoid the clash and what would surely be an ugly floor vote if Trump Jr. ignores the Senate, and some hope the committee and Trump Jr. can work out a deal to avoid a floor vote on complying with the subpoena or even holding the president's son in contempt", wrote reporter Burgess Everett.

CNN reported that Trump Jr. and Burr have been negotiating about his further testimony for the committee for months, but the legal team for the president's son has objected to the scope of the questioning, which encompasses various issues in connection with the Russian Federation investigation.

Donald Trump Jr. has reached a compromise with the Senate Intelligence Committee to testify before the panel, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.

The agreement for a limited appearance in June ended a standoff between the president's son and the Republican-led committee.

"When he originally agreed to testify in front of the Senate Intel Committee in 2017, there was an agreement between Don and the Committee that he would only have to come in and testify a single time as long as he was willing to stay for as long as they'd like, which Don did", the source said. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) out of an effort for bipartisanship, Graham indicated in a May 12 Fox News interview.

Burr told fellow senators that Trump Jr. had twice voluntarily agreed to an interview. "[If I were Trump Jr.], I would call it a day".

The lawyer acted for a Saudi dissident who had sued NSO Group for selling its software to repressive regimes in the Middle East. We investigate any credible allegations of misuse and if necessary, we take action, including shutting down the system.

Led by Republican chairman Richard Burr, the intelligence panel is the only committee in the Republican-controlled Senate that has been conducting a bipartisan investigation into allegations of Russian interference in USA politics. Senators on the committee want to go over answers Trump Jr. gave the panel's staff in a 2017 interview and ask further questions. Cohen pleaded guilty in November to lying to Congress and after the February testimony, Republican lawmakers said he should be referred for further prosecution for lying to them seven more times.

The president on Tuesday said he believed that his son was being treated poorly.

A committee spokesperson declined to comment.

The primary agenda is expected to focus on knowledge Trump Jr. may have about the proposed Trump Tower Moscow project as well as his involvement in a June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower in New York City with a Russian delegation after an offer of "dirt" on Hillary Clinton.

The Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, has defended Burr, telling his colleagues during the private GOP luncheon last week that he trusted the intelligence committee chairman. "And nothing being alleged here changes the outcome of the Mueller investigation, '" Graham, R-S.C., said.
