'Brexit is not future of European Union': EU's Juncker

UK MPs may be forced to vote

Speaking at the Parliament's last plenary session only a week after European Union leaders offered May a six-month Brexit delay, Juncker pointed out that the European Union has "nothing to gain" from the disruption a no-deal Brexit would bring to the UK.

The main disciplinarian of prime Minister Theresa May says the government ought to have told people they would have to take a milder form of departing the European Union after May lost her bulk.

Germany's foreign minister has warned that if the United Kingdom does not make progress on agreeing a Brexit deal it will not be given a further extension to the deadline beyond 31 October.

"I didn't respond at the time, but today, in front of you, I would like to say: at this rather hard moment in our history, we need dreamers and dreams. We cannot have a night session, because I will have to leave at midnight, of course, Donald [Tusk] can stay", Juncker joked.

Writing in the Observer on Sunday, Mr Blair and Mr Ahern said, "Following the Good Friday agreement, there were two referendums".

The European commission president, Jean-Claude Juncker, called on Britain to remain a cooperative and loyal member state during its extra period in the bloc.

"We respect the efforts made by Prime Minister Theresa May to avert a no-deal Brexit".

Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyes squad rebuild in the summer
With Ander Herrera reportedly set to join Paris Saint-Germain, central midfield seems a problem area for Solskjaer, too. Choosing who to get rid of could be crucial too.

"The only ones who would benefit are those who resent multilateralism and seek to undermine the global legal order", Juncker warned.

He said he feared that this will result in the "Brexit mess" being imported into the European Union and that it will help "poison the upcoming European election".

"I fear that it will continue the uncertainty". I fear that it will prolong the indecision.

Verhoftstadt said the decision of the House of Commons to take an Easter break showed that the talks between Labour and the Conservatives would merely "run down the clock".

Mr Verhofstadt said both parties must come to an agreement soon to avoid the "imminent disaster" of both parties being "wiped out" by Nigel Farage's Brexit party in the elections.

Mr Corbyn said Labour had put its case that the future relationship with Europe had to mean a customs union.

Business Secretary Greg Clark and his Labour shadow Rebecca Long-Bailey will look at services and consumer and workers' rights, Environment Secretary Michael Gove and his counterpart Sue Hayman will consider environmental protections, and Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay and Labour's Sir Keir Starmer will look at security.
