3 things to watch in Game 2 at Philadelphia

NBA playoffs Nets and Magic stun high-seeds 76ers and Raptors

And they talk about the areas the Sixers must improve upon before Game 2.

For Philly Butler and Embiid still managed decent statistical performances but Redick, Simmons and Tobias Harris all had disgusting nights that did not seem incidental.

After starting slowly, Embiid fueled a 21-2 blitz to start the third to turn a 65-64 halftime lead to an 86-66 edge. Joel Embiid was the empowering force that got things going for the 76ers during that stretch. The Sixers had scored at least 116 points in four of their previous five before Saturday's letdown.

In the third, it was much of the same but with the Nets edging the 76ers out in the quarter and extending their lead out to 11 points, 93-82. In the fourth quarter, the Nets were relentless and efficient in closing the game out, holding a double-digit lead for all but 1:38 - 59 seconds early in the period and the last 38.8 seconds of the game. For a team that made an average of 10.8 threes per game during the regular season, The Nets holding them to only three treys is a fantastic accomplishment.

D'Angelo Russell was huge in his playoff debut with the Nets, scoring 26 points. Jimmy Butler poured in a game-high 36 points for the 76ers in the losing effort.

Having a reliable bench is great, especially when the 76ers' depth is widely considered to be their biggest weakness. Ask Alexa! Say "Alexa, enable Spreaker" and to start listening simply say "WagerTalk" when asked what you want to listen to! Fortunately for Philly, the playoffs aren't single elimination, so they'll get another chance tonight to get it right.

Severe weather possible late tonight & Sunday
The storm system will lift northeast Sunday presenting a risk of strong to severe storms in the Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic. Tornado warnings and watches were posted in the state Saturday night as the severe weather exited MS into Alabama.

Embiid was doubtful for the series opener but was able to suit up and play 24 minutes. However, their Game 1 performance is a big concern.

The Nets typically play in either a 2-1-2 or a 2-3 zone and against a 76ers team with players such as Embiid and Ben Simmons who are monsters inside the three-point line. The Sixers aren't likely going to panic, but a loss in the first game of a series they're heavily favored to win was surely a wake-up call.

The Philly home crowd rained down boos in Game 1 after a lacklustre performance and today, with Allen Iverson courtside, Simmons got the Philly crowd going, cupping his ear A.I. style to a chorus of cheers. It was clear Joel Embiid's knee was still bothering him by the way he was settling for outside shots and how the Nets attacked him in space. He finished the day with just nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

Embiid had 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Marjanovic scored 16. "They show us a lot of love", Embiid said.

Brooklyn will have a golden opportunity to show the National Basketball Association that it is for real tonight for Game 2 back in Philadelphia (8 p.m. ET, YES, TNT).

Almost 60% of spread tickets are on the Nets in Game 2. Joel only played 24 minutes due to the up and down fast paced style of Brooklyn that takes him the full length of the court to defend.
