British police opened fire after a vehicle rammed into the Ukrainian ambassador's official vehicle on Saturday morning

Police in London say officers opened fire on a auto outside the Ukrainian Embassy on Saturday after it rammed the ambassador's official vehicle.

No one was hurt in the incident, which happened early on Saturday outside the embassy building in the affluent Holland Park area, and it was not being treated as terrorism, police said in a statement. He said the embassy had not been threatened in recent weeks.

"The police were called immediately, and the suspect's vehicle was blocked up", it added. However, despite this, the driver hit the ambassador's auto again.

"On arrival at the scene, a vehicle was driven at police officers", the force said in a statement. However, law enforcement stressed that they were not treating the incident as terrorist-related.

Witnesses have said at least 10 shots were fired and Scotland Yard confirmed firearms and a Taser were used.

"He has been taken to a central London hospital as a precaution", the statement said, adding that the man had not been injured.

The woman, who did not wish to be named, said officers arrived "very quick", adding: "I saw many police cars coming".

A man who was arrested following an incident outside the Ukrainian embassy in west London on Saturday has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

The vehicle has been a focus of attention for forensics officers.

Chief Superintendent Andy Walker said, under standard procedure, the use of a police firearm in Britain is now being formally investigated.

Ruptly's footage from the scene shows a sedan with its doors open in the middle of the street and forensic officers examining the area.

The Met said the Directorate of Professional Standards had been informed.
