Ecuador spread lies about WikiLeaks founder - Julian Assange's lawyer

Police bundle Wiki Leaks founder Julian Assange from the Ecuadorian embassy into a police van in London after he was arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police and taken into custody Thursday

"Julian Assange has been kicked out of the Ecuadorean embassy after spending seven years there, and part of the reason they wanted him out may be he did not make life easy for his hosts".

They also accused the Ecuadoran government of "engaging in a disinformation and slander campaign against Assange" after a series of reports emerged detailing his increasingly disfunctional relationship with embassy staff.

Julian Assange was arrested at the Ecuadorian embassy in London on Sunday "on a warrant issued by Westminster Magistrates' Court on 29 June 2012, for failing to surrender to the court".

"We cannot allow our house, the house that opened its doors, to become a centre for spying", Moreno said, in an apparent reference to the leaked pictures.

Speaking to the Guardian, President Moreno claimed Ecuador's old government provided facilities within the embassy "to interfere" with other states.

Moreno, who was less sympathetic to Assange's cause than his left-wing predecessor Rafael Correa, had requested that he limit his online political presence, stop riding his skateboard in the embassy hall's and clean up after his cat.

Other accusations from Ecuador have included that the WikiLeaks founder played loud music, left the cooker on, smeared feces over the walls of his bathroom and left some dirty underwear in the toilet.

"The key issue at the moment is United States extradition, which we have warned about for many years", she added.

The woman, who did not wish to be named, said officers arrived "very quick", adding: "I saw many police cars coming". However, law enforcement stressed that they were not treating the incident as terrorist-related.

President Moreno of Ecuador said in an interview that Assange had "bothered and threatened guards; [and] hit and mistreated employees of the embassy".

Robinson says Assange has had "a very hard time" since Moreno came to power in 2017.

In an interview with The Guardian, Moreno said Assange's actions "violate asylum conditions" and the country's decision to evict him was "not abitrary but based on global law".

Ecuador's attempted character assassination of whistleblower Julian Assange stepped up since his arrest last week, with officials offering various excuses to justify his expulsion - and the media has been eagerly lapping it up.

The US indictment charges Assange with "conspiracy", alleging that he worked with former US Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to crack a password stored on Department of Defence computers in March 2010.

They added that Assange's fears of a United States extradition threat were proved correct this week after allegations were made that he conspired to hack into a classified Pentagon computer.
