Theresa May Makes Another Appeal to Find Way to Brexit Blueprint

Anti-Brexit placards stand up against a statue outside Houses of Parliament

"This will require a long delay, it will spark disconnect debates, and once parliament has failed to implement the results of the first, we have no reason to believe that it will also respect those in the second referendum", she said.

May is battling to contain a backlash from within her Conservative Party over her decision to work with Labour Party leader Corbyn, someone she's spent three years deriding.

Downing Street has insisted it is prepared to pursue alterations to its Brexit deal and is ready to hold further talks with Labour this weekend.

In a statement released on late Saturday, May said the deal she'd negotiated with the European Union (EU) had been rejected three times by Parliament and there was no chance of it passing in its current form.

In perhaps the biggest miscalculation of all, May calls a snap general election and loses her party's parliamentary majority after a lacklustre campaign.

They've been attempting to reach an agreement that could win the support of a majority in parliament. It would mean letting the Brexit that the British people voted for slip through our fingers.

Labour has called for any departure deal to ensure the protection of the "exact same benefits" as the United Kingdom now has as a member of the EU's single market and customs union.

However after several days of negotiations with Labour, its leader Jeremy Corbyn complained he had not "noticed any great change in the government's position so far".

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex 'move to Windsor'
The move was delayed as the cottage underwent a large refurbishment to transform it from staff accommodation to a family home. At the time, it was claimed that the couple wanted to move because of a falling out between Prince Harry and Prince William .

"Our approach to these discussions with Labour is that we have no red lines, we will go into these talks with an open mind and discuss everything with them in a constructive fashion".

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been told by a third of his MPs that he must secure a fresh referendum in any Brexit deal he reaches with Theresa May.

The Prime Minister heads to Brussels on Wednesday to ask for an extension to June 30, with the possibility of an earlier Brexit day if a deal is agreed - but the European Union has signalled it would insist on a longer delay rather than risk repeated requests for extra time. It is a prospect May and many in her Conservative party are anxious to avoid, fearing a backlash from voters.

European leaders will decide on Mrs May's request at an emergency Brussels summit on Wednesday.

Then prime minister David Cameron promises a referendum on European Union membership - if the Conservatives win the next general election in 2015.

Mr Tusk offered the proposal saying, "The only reasonable way out would be a long but flexible extension".

"Most of the colleagues that I am talking to accept we will need longer to complete this process", Hammond told reporters in Bucharest.
