Portugal 1 Serbia 1: Ronaldo injured as Group B favourites draw again

The striker seemed to injure a muscle in his right leg whilst sprinting to catch a ball in the Euro 2020 qualifying game against Serbia tonight.

Danilo Pereira scored minutes before half-time as Portugal settled for a 1-1 draw, the second straight Group B stalemate for the defending European champions during this worldwide break.

The injury, which appeared to be in the hamstring region, could rule the former Manchester United star out of a crucial Champions League clash against Ajax.

William Carvalho had a goal disallowed against Ukraine and should have put Portugal ahead inside four minutes here, but he failed to apply a finish from point-blank range.

The visitors opened the scoring after Mijat Gacinovic was fouled by Portugal goalkeeper Patricio inside the area to prompt the penalty that Tadic calmly converted with a shot to the left corner as Patricio dived the other way.

Romania Announces Embassy Move to Jerusalem at 2019 AIPAC Policy Conference
Netanyahu, who had called on his Romanian counterpart in January to announce the transfer, on Sunday welcomed her move. Most countries have embassies in Tel Aviv out of sensitivity over the contested city.

The hosts' frustrations only grew in stoppage time when Bernardo Silva and Pepe squandered chances to secure a dramatic win.

Fernando Santos' side came under fire for a lacklustre display against Ukraine, and although Monday's performance was much improved, with Ronaldo's injury they lacked the quality to make the momentum given to them by Danilo's equaliser count. Luxembourg stay on three points and Portugal are on two.

Ronaldo limped toward the sideline and signaled to the bench to request a substitution.

Only sixteen days before Juventus travel to Amsterdam to take on Galactico topplers Ajax in the Champions League Quarter-Final first-leg, the Old Lady will be sweating after Cristiano Ronaldo was withdrawn on the half-hour tonight whilst in action for Portugal.
