Seminoles rally around Cofer after father’s death

Phil Cofer #0 of the Florida State Seminoles shoots over Mamadi Diakite #25 of the Virginia Cavaliers in the first half during a game at John Paul Jones Arena on January 5, 2019 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

According to Warchant.com's Ira Schoffel, Cofer met with Florida State officials late Thursday to decide if he should stay or leave to be with family members. The school did not say if Cofer was going to attend the second-round game against Murray State, which is slated for Saturday.

The fifth-year senior from Fayetteville, Ga., missed the Seminoles' 76-69 victory over Vermont with a foot injury.

The Detroit Free Press describes Mike Cofer's fatal illness as uncommon disease that affects organs and tissue.

Trump says auto imports don't threaten national security, despite tariff threat
Never the less, the spokesman failed to mention further details on the duration of the trade talks. U.S. media report that the two sides hope to reach an agreement by late April.

When they got back to their team hotel, the Seminoles sought the right mix of giving Cofer his space but also being there for him. "He passed that same level of toughness and will and desire along to his son Phil". His father never complained about anything.

Associate head coach Stan Jones, in his 17th season with Hamilton at FSU, said the players are helping each other through their grief. He faced the challenge every day of his life with the heart of lion.

"Life is very fragile", Jones said.

This season, there is not much hope at this point that the Noles will start the season ranked when they face off with Boise State (and truthfully, we wouldn't blame the pollsters if they weren't) - but an article about a fictional football tournament gave some knowledge to one outlet who still thinks highly of FSU football.
