'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' poster criticised for airbrushing Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie is giving fans a sneak peek into her portrayal of slain actress Sharon Tate in the highly-anticipated noir film "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood".

The director's ninth movie is set to take place in Hollywood 1969, following the lives of an actor and his stunt double, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt respectively. For Los Angeles, sure, but also for Tarantino, who, after traveling as far and wide as the Third Reich and the Shaolin Temple, is bringing it home. The question of Tate is how you make her more than just a victim, and perhaps Once Upon a Time sees her more as a tragic figure, a rising star whose legacy was changed by virtue of being stabbed to death by a bunch of cultists.

It would be hard to set a film in Los Angeles circa 1969 without reference to the Manson Family killings, and no film about the Manson Family killings would be complete without the likeness of actress Sharon Tate.

Should Tarantino return to the Croisette with his new film, it would be nearly exactly 25 years after he presented "Pulp Fiction" at the festival and took home the Palme d'Ore prize.

Google’s Inbox app will shut down the same day as Google+
Google provided an online guide about how to move the data from Inbox over to Gmail. It allowed users to automatically generate replies, create bundles, and more.

This will be Tarantino's first film based on true events, as Inglourious Basterds was technically set in World War II and featured key leaders including Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill, but in an alternate history that did not follow reality.

The trailer, which includes a scene of DiCaprio doing the twist and shout, already looks better than the schlocky posters released earlier this week that somehow lack Tarantino's established sense of style.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is due to be released into United Kingdom cinemas on 14 August.
