Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1660 is available right now for £199

NVIDIA's GTX 1660 lowers the high-performance gaming price barrier

The GeForce GTX 1660 GPU leverages the impressive raster performance of the Turing architecture to provide an ideal foundation for AAA 1080p gaming, or a plugand-play upgrade for aging systems.

NVIDIA has launched the GTX 1660, a new mid-range graphics card for desktop following the launch of its 1660 Ti. The memory itself is now 6GB GDDR5 instead of 6GB GDDR6.

The GTX 1660 shows Turing's power efficiency at its best, and with a TDP of 120W, you can expect an average power consumption of around 100W. In terms of performance, NVIDIA stated that the GTX 1660 is 30% and 15% faster than GTX 1060 3GB and GTX 1060 6GB respectively at 1080p resolution.

The clock speed sees slight improvements, with base clock increased from 1500MHz on the 1660 Ti to 1530MHz and the boost clock increased from 1770MHz to 1785MHz.

Kylie Jenner Reveals The Surprisingly Traditional Name She Almost Gave Stormi
She and boyfriend Travis Scott had planned on it being spelled "Stormie" but Kylie dropped the "e" at the last minute. The only hint she gave her followers was that it would be unique, just like Stormi .

At $219, Nvidia is clearly going for the AMD's Radeon RX 590, usually priced at around $240. Pricing starts from £199 and NVIDIA won't be making a Founders Edition of the GPU.

There are plenty of reviews around and you can check out some of them below. For instance, in February's Steam Hardware & Software Survey the fifth most popular card was the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 which came out in 2014.

Subjected to a battery of compatibility tests with TUF Gaming motherboards, as well as a 144-hour validation program involving a variety of in-game and synthetic benchmarking, the TUF Gaming GeForce GTX 1660 targets gamers that prefer a longer upgrade cycle.
