James Gandolfini and Edie Falco in

In the show's final scene, Gandolfini's Tony Soprano visits Holsten's with his wife Carmela (Edie Falco) and his son Anthony Jr.

The release date and title has been revealed for the prequel of the hit HBO mafia series.

"The Sopranos" ultimately ran six seasons and won 21 Primetime Emmys, five Golden Globes, and a Peabody Award en route to world-renowned status, thus the prequel will likely be a box-office hit when it's released nationwide on September 25, 2020.

Production on "The Sopranos" prequel "Newark" is expected to start sometime in May with the release date now confirmed for next year.

Bryce Harper hit by pitch in foot, leaves game
Harper stayed on the ground for a few moments, was checked by a trainer and limped off and out of the game in the sixth inning. However, Kapler spoke after the game stating per Meghan Montemurro that " We don't have reason for concern " at this time.

The prequel, which will feature younger versions of the beloved characters, is set in the 1960s in Newark when the riots between Italian-Americans and African-Americans were at an all-time high. His legend hangs large as a pivotal member, along with Tony and Uncle Junior, as someone who transformed the family into one to be reckoned with in the Tri-State area.

The cast for "Newark" includes Alesandro Nivola, who plays Dickie Moltisanti - a character often talked about but never seen in "The Sopranos" television series as he was Christopher Moltisanti's father and a mentor to Tony Soprano.

The Sopranos creator David Chase wrote the script with Lawrence Konner, with Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) directing.

The movie's current working title is Newark (nee The Many Saints of Newark).
