Whoopi Goldberg makes surprise 'View' appearance after near-death experience

ABC's'The View- Season 22

The View's Whoopi Goldberg made a surprise appearance on the show Thursday as she continued her recovery from double pneumonia, and she made a point of slamming the health insurance industry, revealing that her insurance advocate tried to deny her doctor-recommended equipment to assist her breathing.

As Joy Behar said she could be back next week, Goldberg snuck out from the side of the stage and set the audience and her hosts into a frenzy. And along with a big thank you for all the love and support she received, the 63-year-old Oscar victor came with a message about health insurance. "But I wanted the first foray out to be to come see y'all because I missed y'all".

"These are things that we have the power to take care of".

"You think you can push through because you have a little cold, and you think because you've healed before something insane can't happen. Well, it can", the star explained. Whoopi Goldberg missed no less than a month of work after struggling with a really bad case of pneumonia that nearly killed her!

"I still have a cough and that's the last thing to go apparently", she said. "You must really take care of yourself because there's little tiny stuff out there that will kill you that you never think of". You need to just be upright and not be around a bunch of folks, because my immune system is challenged. She said, "I am here, I am up and moving around, not as fast as I'd like to be, but I am okay". "Why is it I've been paying insurance for nearly 60 years and it hasn't rolled over?"

Henderson. "But if he can't communicate, then we recommend ground teams use all resources to scan the skies for your missing man". As far as the connection to the actual Avengers story, or the Marvel Comics that the film is based on, there is no Tony P.

Behar previously told viewers about Goldberg's diagnosis during the February 20 broadcast while simultaneously debunking rumors that Goldberg would be the surprise host of the Oscars, which were just a few days away at that point.

"I came very, very close to leaving the earth", Goldberg said on Friday. Thank you for all of your good wishes, all of the wonderful things that people have been saying. "Who told them they could use that money when I wasn't using it?'"

Behar said the hosts had no idea Whoopi was showing up, adding, "We are shocked, personally".

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on ABC.
