This Team ‘Investigating’ Eric Berry’s Health After Chiefs Release

Revisiting Eric Berry's greatest moments with the Chiefs

The decision could not have been an easy one, emotionally speaking, given how much Berry has meant to the team and its fan base over the years.

The Kansas City Chiefs have released VFL Eric Berry.

According to Yahoo's Terez A. Paylor, the Chiefs will save $15 million against the salary cap over the next two years by releasing him with a post-June 1 designation.

Berry also missed 10 games during the 2014 season when he was diagnosed with cancer, but he became a motivation to many when he concluded treatment and was back on the field the following summer. "We wish him nothing but the best".

Derry awaits decision on 1972 killings — Bloody Sunday
The charges under consideration included murder, attempted murder and causing grievous bodily injury with intent to endanger life. Eighteen ex-paratroopers have been reported to the Public Prosecution Service over the 1972 killings.

"We sincerely appreciate all that he has meant to the Chiefs, Hunt said".

"I'd like to thank Eric for his contributions to our team and the Kansas City community over the last nine years", coach Andy Reid said Wednesday in a statement from the Chiefs. Other times when he wasn't available to play he encouraged his teammates with his tutelage and passion for the game. When healthy, Berry is peerless at his position and, if not for injury, it was likely that the Hall of Fame would come calling one day in Canton, Ohio, As it stands, Berry will undoubtedly enter the Chiefs Hall of Fame one day when he decides to end his career. "He will always be an important part of our Chiefs family, and we wish him nothing but the best in the future".

Berry (6-0, 212) has played in 89 games (87 starts) in nine National Football League seasons with the Chiefs (2010-18). As a rookie he made the Pro Bowl for the first of what would be five times. His career numbers include 440 tackles (372 solo), 5.5 sacks, 14 interceptions (five return TDs), 51 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Berry - who also won the Ed Block Courage Award in 2015 after returning from cancer and twice was selected as the Derrick Thomas Award victor as the Chiefs' MVP (2015, 2016) - is tied for second in franchise history with five interception return touchdowns.
