Sex Scandals Take Down K-Pop Stars Jung Joon-young and Seungri

BREAKING! Big Bang's Seungri Has Quit The Entertainment Industry

We were able to confirm this fact through Yong Junhyung's witness interview on March 13.

As prostitution is illegal in South Korea, Seungri could find himself in hot water if the accusations are proven to be true.

SM Entertainment was quick to release a statement on Tuesday when a member of its top boy group, EXO, was mentioned as a possible member of the group chat where the sex videos were shared.

Another singer and television celebrity, Jung Joon-young, is also in trouble.

The reason? A prostitution scandal that has gotten so "big", it has become too hard to handle.

Jung's scandal flared while police were investigating his friend, K-pop star and entrepreneur Seungri, over an allegation that he attempted to provide prostitutes to his business investors.

In an Instagram post on Monday (Mar 11), Seungri of boyband BigBang said: "This scandal is too big, I have chose to retire. I cannot tolerate myself to live alone and to avoid everyone around me".

Singer Jung Joon-young on Wednesday admitted to having secretly filmed sex videos of women he slept with and sharing them with fellow entertainers, vowing to halt all activities in show business. There were two other male artists in the chatroom, the Guardian reports, and secret footage of at least 10 women was shared by members.

This is not the first time Jung has been accused of filming a sexual encounter without consent.

A series of recent scandals has exposed the dark side of South Korea's booming yet ultra-competitive entertainment industry.

It is unclear if the charges will have any effect on Seungri's upcoming military enlistment, which is scheduled to begin on Mar 25.

"Hello, this is YG Entertainment".

After Seungri announced his retirement on March 12, YG Entertainment has honoured Seungri's request to terminate his exclusive contract.

Meanwhile, Jung, who was in 2017 cleared of sexual assault accusations, was also sacked from the 2 Days 1 Night variety programme, which he has been a part of since 2013, AllKPop reported. An ex-girlfriend made an allegation against him in 2016, but ultimately withdrew it.

According to Soompi, Jung said in a statement of apology that he was admitting to "all my crimes". I have filmed women without consent and have distributed footage in social media chatrooms, and I've felt no guilt while doing so. More than anything, I kneel and apologize to the women who appear in the videos who have learned of this ugly truth as the incident has come to light, and to the many people who must be angry at the situation over which they can not contain their disappointment and astonishment.
