How to Download or Upgrade to Chrome 73

After Google released the Chrome 73 update, we received many emails from our readers on how they can download Chrome 73 or update their current Google Chrome browser to Chrome 73.

Apart from the Dark Mode, Google Chrome's latest version also brings several features and improvements, including changes to syncing and account sign-in and Auto Picture-in-Picture.

To turn it on, go to the settings panel in MacOS, choose "General", and select "Dark" under the "Appearance" pulldown menu.

Also new in the Google Chrome 73 release is support for keyboard media keys to control multimedia content on websites, improved Picture-in-Picture (PiP) support by automatically switching to PiP mode when moving away from the tab where the video is playing, as well as tab grouping support to better organize multiple tabs.

Chrome's Dark Mode does look like the browser's Incognito Mode, which might make things a little confusing when you are using the private mode after having enabled the Dark Mode as there's only the Incognito badge differentiating the two browsing modes. Additionally, features like cross-platform tab sharing are now under testing.

While these features don't require any special settings to be enabled on the user's end, developers will have to build support it into their web apps and pages in order for them to be available, so functionality may differ between web pages and apps. Fortunately, Chrome 73 has no such issues; you can visit sites like Facebook, Twitter and others and each webpage will still appear in a complete dark mode.

If you're a Windows user, Google says that there is an update in the works.

Sadly for Windows users, the dark mode support is nowhere to be found. You'll also have to relaunch your browser after it has been updated to version 73 for the changes to take effect.
