'Screen women for breast cancer every year from 35'

Experts found that early screening led to the detection of more tumours before they had spread

Women with a family history of breast cancer should have mammogram screening from the age of 35, new research suggests.

Prof Gareth Evans, the lead author of the study said that for women who did not undergo screening had fewer of the cancers discovered when they were still small.

"These are the first significant data on the benefits of screening in women aged 35-39", he said.

It's estimated that only about half of US women over 40 years old receive regular mammography screenings, which doctors say is unfortunate and potentially risky.

A statement from the organisation said: "Breast cancer survival is at its highest ever and with improved screening a key focus of the NHS long term plan, even more cancers will be diagnosed earlier".

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among Georgia women. In unscreened women, just 45% (131/293) of breast cancers were detected when the tumour was 2cm or smaller in size and 54% (158/290) of cases had already spread to the lymph nodes. Hence, before allowing it to spread in the entire body, these small tumors could be removed permanently to prevent women from breast cancer.

In the trial led by Professor Gareth Evans at the University of Manchester, nearly 3,000 women aged 35-39 at moderate or high risk of breast cancer due to their family history were offered annual screening across 34 United Kingdom centres between 2006 and 2015.

Ravens agree to trade Joe Flacco to Broncos
According to Over The Cap's calculator, trading Flacco will free up $28.25 million in 2020 and $24.25 million in 2021. The Broncos began to study him during Super Bowl week, sources told ESPN , and agreed to a deal before the combine.

The study conducted at the University of Manchester by the charity carried out scanning of 2,899 women aged between 35-39 who have a moderate or high risk of disease.

"Overdiagnosis is also far less likely to be a major issue in such a young age group". The NHS offers all women aged 50 to 70 breast x-ray screening every three years....

The latest U.S. estimates that more than half a million deaths from the disease have been avoided over the past three decades.

Breast cancer is Britain's most common cancer, affecting 55,000 women a year and killing nearly 12,000.

A specialist will consider the pattern of these familial cancers, including ages at diagnosis, and other factors such as a woman's age or any prior breast or ovarian cancers - giving an overall estimate as to whether they are at "moderate" (17-29% lifetime risk3), "high" (30% or higher lifetime risk) or "general population" risk (~11% lifetime risk).

Baroness Morgan said more research was now needed, including on the potential costs of extending screening.

An NHS England spokesperson said an upcoming review will consider changes to the screening programme.
