Police receive redacted phone records from Jussie Smollett regarding reported attack

Back in January, "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett was attacked in what Chicago police called a hate crime.

A neighbor claimed to have seen a "redneck" with a rope but Chicago police were unable to find video surveillance from the area to support this.

Smollett's crisis manager, Chris Bastardi, told Fox News: "Jussie is the victim here, which has been stated by the Superintendent of Police".

The actor said he was on the phone with his manager at the time of the attack.

It is unclear if it's related to the attack.

A spokesman said the records he sent "are not sufficient and do not meet the burden of a criminal investigation". He reportedly told police that the men used racial and homophobic slurs before beating him, pouring what may have been bleach onto him, and leaving a noose around his neck before proclaiming, "This is MAGA country", as they left.

Further lending credence to Smollett's claims, police have confirmed to the outlet that surveillance footage from Smollett's building shows the actor walking around with rope around his neck.

"I've been in this neighborhood five years".

BBC cameraman assaulted in 'violent attack' at Donald Trump rally
Footage captured from Skeans' camera was posted to Twitter by O'Donoghue and shows the shot focused on Trump before jolting away. He has often branded reporting he doesn't like as "fake news" and said that journalists are enemies of the people.

Moore said he overheard those remarks during the phone call and police want the phone records to corroborate the men's accounts of what happened. I don't believe it, not around here ...

"We don't believe this is the case at all but when anyone hands over a redacted and limited record like a PDF of a phone bill for example, those records could be manipulated".

Meanwhile, the New York Post reports that an empty hot sauce bottle filled with a clear liquid was found near the scene of the reported attack, and that it smelled like bleach.

According to police, a PDF is subject to manipulation, but they are not saying they have any evidence that Smollett manipulated his phone records - detectives have now asked Smollett to submit his actual phone bill or a download of his entire phone. "They have cameras everywhere".

Last week, The Post traced Smollett's likely route to the underpass from a 24-hour Subway sandwich shop where he bought a tuna sandwich and a salad.

"We are continuing to work closely with the Chicago PD and remain confident that they will find Jussie's attackers and bring them to justice".

Another anonymous individual, who says he's a regular at a nearby bar says, "It's a lie, because Chicago is the most liberal city around".
