Charges: Jail nurse killed husband, wanted to Wednesday inmate

Amy Murray 40 of Iberia Mo. was accused of fatally poisoning her husband to marry an inmate

A Missouri prison nurse who had an affair with a lifer may now face a life sentence of her own.

Forty-year-old Amy Murray, of Iberia, is jailed on $750,000 bond on charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, arson and tampering with evidence in the December 11 death of Joshua Murray.

Murray allegedly started the fire, then left the home with her son, 11, and two dogs and went to a McDonald's. Investigators determined that the fire was deliberately set and Joshua Murray was already dead, poisoned with antifreeze, when it broke out.

It's a plot worthy of a soap opera: A Missouri jail nurse was charged with the murder of her husband in what police said was a bid to be with her inmate boyfriend, whom she met while he was incarcerated for killing an elderly lottery victor.

On Thursday, a woman was arrested for allegedly poisoning her husband, setting him on fire so she could marry an inmate.

After investigating the incident, police discovered that Amy Murray, a nurse at a correctional center in Jefferson City, Missouri, had an intimate relationship with an inmate, who she planned to marry, according to recorded phone conversations. Following the fire, she allegedly told the prisoner they could get married because her husband was dead and "out of the picture," according to KMIZ News.

And it seems like much of that success has trickled down to Titanfall 2, Respawn's preceding first-person shooter. It's not like there's a community event going on, which sometimes happens for less-than-new titles, either.

According to a probably cause state cited by Fox 8, Murray said the home was on fire when she returned home and the smoke was too heavy for her to go inside.

The inmate, 40-year-old Eugene Claypool, has been jailed for more than 18 years in the deadly stabbing of a 72-year-old man.

The victim, Donald Hardwick, had made headlines for winning a $1.7 million lottery prize in 1998. She was released on a $750,000 bond from the Miller County Adult Detention Center in Tuscumbia, Missouri. "Amy Murray talks about wanting Joshua Murray to come home from Nebraska and she is exhausted of being around him".

Officials determined that Amy poisoned Joshua with antifreeze and put him on the bed, according to KMIZ.

Amy Murray, 40, was charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, second-degree arson and tampering with physical evidence in felony prosecution. She is scheduled for a bond reduction hearing February 13.
