Angel Di Maria has last laugh with PSG on Old Trafford return

Ashley Young pushes Angel Di Maria on a yellow

Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria yelled "f**k off" at Manchester United's home support after his side took the lead at Old Trafford.

Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria said he fully expected a hostile reception upon his return to former club Manchester United on Tuesday night amid accusations that he swore at the home fans during his celebrations.

In the first half, Di Maria received a welcome back from former teammate Ashley Young when the United captain barged him into the advertising hoards as the ball went out for a throw in, to huge applause from the crowd.

But Di Maria held on to laugh last after spearheading United's first defeat under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solkjaer.

"Although VAR was in action last night, Orsato was not able to review this incident as second yellow cards can not be checked".

Stooping down, Di Maria pretended to take a sip before chucking it aside and sending in a pinpoint corner which was met by Presnel Kimpembe. Now, with both Neymar and Edinson Cavani missing through injury for PSG this week, the 30-year-old becomes even more of a key man against his former employers.

Last month, Di Maria - who has made 90 appearances for Argentina - spoke out about his miserable season in the Premier League.

"I only stayed one year", he said during an interview on French radio.

He was handed the club's iconic number seven shirt and his arrival had the potential to beckon a new era of success alongside heralded new manager Louis van Gaal.

"It wasn't the best time of my career, or should I say I wasn't allowed to have the best time of my career". To compound matters, Pogba was given his marching orders in the penultimate minute - handed his second yellow card of the night for a high challenge on Dani Alves, meaning he will miss the return leg at the Parc des Princes on March 6.
