Thunder waive Alex Abrines

Thunder release guard Alex Abrines, cite personal issue

The Oklahoma City Thunder have waived shooting guard Alex Abrines, the team announced on Saturday.

After Abrines established himself as a key player for the Thunder to start the season, he has since missed 20 out of the last 22 games for the team, mostly due to personal reasons.

He has played in two games since December 23.

"He's still battling through some things and wasn't able to be here tonight", coach Billy Donovan said February 5 after Abrines was included on the active roster, but not at the game.

Aaron Ramsey agrees four-year deal with Juventus
Ramsey will earn an eye-watering "basic" salary of £400k per week before tax in Turin, according to the BBC's David Ornstein. Ramsey, 28, will become a free agent this summer, when his current contract at The Emirates expires.

Drafted with the 23rd overall pick of the 2013 draft, Abrines made his National Basketball Association debut in 2016 after several seasons starring for F.C. Barcelona.

With the move, the Thunder's roster is down to 12 guaranteed contracts and two two-way contracts (Donte Grantham, Deonte Burton).

The Thunder are on the hook for the remainder of Abrines' $5,455,236 salary this season. It's likely they will use 10-day contracts to fill the void while waiting on the buyout picture to clear.

Over three seasons with the Thunder, the Spaniard averaged 5.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game while shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point territory. The 25 year old played in 174 games for OKC over the past three seasons.
