Google Maps Starts Testing AR-Powered Navigation

Google Maps AR navigation feature is now being tested

Even so, the new interface won't allow you to continually use the camera for AR, and will insist that you lower the phone, where the more traditional map interface will then be displayed. According to a report by The Verge, David Pierce from The Wall Street Journal got hands-on experience of the AR navigation feature. On top of that, your battery would drain really fast, so it's probably best to use the AR navigation feature in shorter intervals.

He described how the feature worked - the app picks up a person's location via Global Positioning System (GPS), and then uses Street View data to narrow it down to the exact location.

Google Maps' augmented reality (AR) navigation feature is finally being tested by some early users, however, it's not available to everyone yet. The AR navigation mode uses the phone camera and Global Positioning System location to display arrows in the real world for navigation. It's like Street View for navigation.

And in 2017, she wore her famous "Make America Great Again" dress . "I do not apologize for voting for who I wanted to vote for". It had the words "Keep America Great!", "Trump", and "2020" in support of the president, ET reported .

Google didn't announce when the Google Maps AR navigation feature will be downloadable for everyone, however, it will be interesting to see how it will elevate people's routes in the near future. Now reports suggest that the company is testing the feature with a small group of Local Guides. Once his location was pinned down, it displayed big arrows and directions in his screen, the report said on Saturday. The system too reportedly warns users against this. Once done, the Google Maps will guide you. The idea is to help users with short-term directions.

Google's user-experience lead for the AR project, Rachel Inman, told the WSJ the feature is not meant to be your primary navigation tool.

As pointed out this feature was first shown at Google's I/O developer conference last year in May 2018, but has not officially rolled out, and it has been close to a year since it was announced.
