Wells Fargo Says All Systems Are Restored For Banking Customers

The bank said Friday transactions, such as balances and deposits, that were not visible through online banking or ATMs on Thursday and early Friday were processed normally. Customer centers are open but callers may face long delays, the bank said.

The outage caused a high call volume and online and mobile traffic, Wells Fargo said.

Customers then began reporting they were not able to see their direct deposits in their accounts.

Wells Fargo bank is extending its hours Friday and Saturday after a power shutdown at one of the bank's facilities affected numerous bank's services.

Customers spoke up on social media Friday, saying mobile banking either was unavailable or their paychecks had yet to show up.

We asked Steve Carlson, a VP of Corporate Communications for the region that includes Iowa, about the issue and he sent us this statement, "As a result of the process to restore systems yesterday, some transactions and balances were not reflected in online banking or ATMs earlier today. This issue has now been corrected", the bank said in a separate statement.

The power shutdown was triggered by a "smoke condition created by routine maintenance in the building", according to the release.

Wells apologized multiple times during the outage and said any fees that customers incur because of the outage would be reversed.

Twitter complaints about Wells Fargo (WFC) being down were nationwide, particularly in the parts of the country where Wells has a large presence, like the South, California and the East Coast.

Wells Fargo stock (WFC) was down 59 cents, or 1.23 percent, at $47.49 late Friday.
