Despite that battle, Abigail says she still wanted to become a police officer when she grows up.
The little girl wore a custom-made police uniform and stood on a stepladder as she raised her right hand while the police chief administered the oath.
"Her terrific smile and will to keep fighting "the bad guys" inside of her - I wanted to make her dream come true", Mr Garivey told CNN. Abigail was first diagnosed two years ago and after 80 rounds of chemotherapy was in remission for five months, but the disease returned in both lungs. Abigail's mother Ilene admitted to KTRK, "They basically said it's time to enjoy some life". "Extremely tough, we cried for a few weeks". Garivey recalled, "She goes, 'I want to be a police officer.' I looked back at her dad and I said, "She probably should have never told me that".

'You have to meet her to really understand what a great and inspiring young lady she is'. However, she said her daughter told her not to worry and that she will not let the bad guys win. "Her story brought peace officers from all over today into one room and it was a magical moment for all who were in attendance". The six-year-old's condition has worsened, to the point that she is not expected to live too much longer.
"It means lots of excitement and lots of love", Abigail said.
