Maroon 5 announced as Super Bowl half-time performers

Travis Scott

Big Boi and Travis Scott will join Maroon 5 in this year's Super Bowl halftime show.

Typically one of the most fiercely sought gigs in music, the Super Bowl halftime show has this year been the subject of boycott and protest.

Some members of the public, as well as various artists, encouraged musicians to refuse requests to perform at the show as a way to condemn the NFL's treatment of Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback and activist.

In the announcement video, the band also confirmed that Travis Scott and Big Boi will be joining the performance.

The Witcher Geralt Comes To Monster Hunter
Capcom isn't saying much else right now, although it's at least good to know when the event will be kicking off. However, the event quest features the "Greatest Jagras" that is set to be a challenge to the players.

Performing at the Super Bowl now amounts to an endorsement of the NFL's policies, and sources tell Variety that multiple artists of color - including Cardi B (who is featured on Maroon 5's recent hit "Girls Like You"), Outkast, Mary J. Blige, Usher and Nicki Minaj - were considered or approached to perform with Maroon 5.

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, who is also a host on the NBC musical reality show The Voice, had remained tight-lipped on the rumours of a halftime gig in interviews before the news became official.

Scott and the National Football League will make a $500,000 joint donation to Dream Corps, an organization that fights for social justice and prison reform. "I know being an artist that it's in my power to inspire". "I back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in", he said. Jay-Z even allegedly tried to get Travis Scott to back out of the Super Bowl performance.

Talk of who would perform at the February 3 game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium had been ongoing for months, with reports that several artists had refused requests out of protest of the NFL.
