Rep. Ocasio-Cortez's campaign fined for not providing workers' comp coverage

Freshman congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is catching heat from her own party as Democratic lawmakers are growing frustrated with her style.

According to reports, the campaign was forced to pay a $1,500 fine for not providing the required insurance.

Since upsetting six-term incumbent Joe Crowley in a primary last summer and winning election to Crowley's old seat in November, Ocasio-Cortez has used her vast social-media following to chastise fellow Democrats she believes are insufficiently progressive and too beholden to the antiquated establishment.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is already making enemies in the House Democratic Caucus - and some of its members are mounting an operation to bring the anti-establishment, democratic socialist with 2.2 million Twitter followers into the fold. He frequently voted along Republican ideology lines, and post-retirement from the Senate, served as head counsel for the white collar criminal defense and investigations practice at a law firm that did extensive work for Donald Trump and then later failed to mention that as a conflict of interest when necessary.

Recently Ocasio-Cortez told Politico that she wasn't interested in backing progressive candidates against incumbent Democrats, insisting that she's "focused on my job". "We have now over 100 new members of this freshman class".

United Kingdom growth figures to show economy at virtual standstill as Brexit looms
Looking at November alone, industrial output dropped 1.5 percent on the year - the biggest fall since August 2013. The Bank of England says the economy is likely to have grown around 0.2 percent over the fourth quarter of 2018.

"She needs to decide: Does she want to be an effective legislator or just continue being a Twitter star?" an anonymous House Democrat said. She still has not answered whether she will follow through with her own advice to fellow lawmakers to "have some integrity" and forgo her paychecks during the partial government shutdown.

"She's new here, feeling her way around", Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-OR) said.

Lieberman added in the interview the Democrats will lose voters in the long term if Ocasio-Cortez's ideas are endorsed.

"If you look at the majority of new Democrats in the House, they tend to be, I say, center-left, if they are not left-left. It's not the same thing, at all", she said.
