Googles parent company Alphabet faces lawsuit over mishandling of sexual misconduct case

Google executive Andy Rubin was reportedly given a "hero's farewell" and a $90 million departure package following allegations of sexual abuse and harassment, which prompted thousands of Google employees to stage mass walkout protests at company offices around the world.

Thursday's shareholder lawsuit, which is being brought by several high-profile attorneys, including a former chair of the Federal Election Commission and former City Attorney of San Francisco, takes particular aim at Google's board of directors.

Google paid Rubin $90 million after Page asked for his resignation following an allegation Rubin coerced a female employee into performing oral sex in a hotel room in 2013, according to a New York Times report in October.

While both Rubin and Singhal have denied the allegations, Pichai penned a letter to Google employees ensuring them that the company was committed at becoming a workplace where employees felt safe.

The suit also targets Google co-founders Page and Sergey Brin, executive chairman Eric Schmidt, Rubin, current chief executive Sundar Pichai, former human resources director Laszlo Bock, chief legal officer David Drummond, former executive Amit Singhal, and others.

Some of the Google employees involved in the walkout released a statement Thursday in support of the lawsuits.

Send in Snow Tanks! German Army Comes to the Rescue After Avalanche
This is the latest of a number of tragic avalanche deaths in Austria after consistently big snowfalls over the past two weeks. BBC Weather forecaster Alina Jenkins said heavy snow hit Germany, Austria, Turkey and the Balkans on Thursday (10 January).

"If you were a high‐level male executive at Google responsible for generating millions of dollars in revenue, Google would let you engage in sexual harassment".

They also want Google to "take necessary actions to end the hostile work environment at the company as well as its pattern of non-compliance with data laws".

The behavior of ruby and the other leaders was disgusting, illegal, immoral, degrading to women, it is contrary to all principles that Google declares, reads one of the complaints. "Andy left Google voluntarily". He also revealed (in the lawsuit) that Google provided them on the condition that they will not be published anywhere.

Alphabet has not commented on the lawsuit.

Documents obtained by Martin under a shareholder inspection demand indicate minutes of board committee meetings where the executives' situations were discussed.

The complaint is a derivative case filed on behalf of the company against its board of directors, which means any damages recovered by the plaintiff would go back to Google. "What we have asked for are a lot of changes in corporate governance at Google, and that is really the ultimate goal of this litigation".
