Google kills the Chromecast Audio

Google confirms Chromecast Audio has been discontinued

As long it had an analog or digital audio input, you could cast to it.

"Our product portfolio continues to evolve, and now we have a variety of products for users to enjoy audio".

While the regular Chromecast was used to stream video media (1080p @ 60FPS with its 3rd gen version), the Chromecast Audio was made for those who only wanted an audio solution.

Either way, the brilliant little dongle that has transformed multiple speakers in my home and office is officially being canned by Google.

Syrian air defense systems strike down several missiles over western Damascus
Israeli officials made no statement on Friday's reports, but seldom comment on alleged strikes. Another official told SANA traffic at the airport had not been disrupted.

"We will continue to offer assistance for Chromecast Audio devices, so users can continue to enjoy their music, podcasts and more".

In the US Google Store the Chromecast Audio is reduced to just $15 and, in many other parts of the world like the United Kingdom, it labeled as out of stock.

So why on earth would Google kill a product that just works, especially when it lets you integrate "dumb" speakers with Google Assistant-powered smart speakers and other devices to create a whole-house audio system? Still, there are already thousands of traditional speakers without any casting ability at all that could benefit from Chromecast Audio. For now, you can still buy the Chromecast Audio at a pretty sweet deal. They're normally $35, but they're now discounted to $15. But the Chromecast Audio was a great way to tack on smart functionality to existing or exotic audio setups. In India too, the Chromecast Audio is out of stock in most places.

For those who aren't familiar with the product, the Chromecast Audio is a relatively small device which allows a consumer to turn any 3.5mm-compatible speaker (s) into a streaming device via the Chromecast dongle.
