Duchess Meghan Markle's half brother, Thomas Markle Jr., was arrested on Friday in Oregon, TMZ reports.

Thomas Markle Jr. - who tried to prevent Meghan's marriage to Britain's Prince Harry - was stopped by state police around 1:30 a.m., according to TMZ. Meghan on Thursday has become patron of the Smart Works charity that supports unemployed women to return to work.

He was taken to the police sobering centre near his home and his Chevy Silverado was impounded.

The Royal Foundation, which was initially founded by Princes William and Harry and Kate, tackles issues including wildlife and conservation, young people, the armed forces community and mental health.

Thomas Sr., who often makes headlines for speaking out about his famous daughter, is also the father of Thomas Jr. and 54-year-old Samantha.
