The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rested India's fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the India vs Australia ODI series which is around the corner.

New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi and fast bowler Lachlan Ferguson have moved up after creditable performances during a 3-0 sweep over Sri Lanka in a home series that ended on Tuesday. Beginning on Saturday, India will play three one-dayers in Australia before moving to New Zealand to play five ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals.

Mohammed Siraj has been included in the One-Day International (ODI) squad while Siddarth Kaul will join the side for the three T20Is in New Zealand. He was the leader of the pack and ended up with 21 wickets in 4 Tests, joint most with Nathan Lyon. He also picked up seven wickets in the three List A games against New Zealand A including a four-wicket haul in the final game of the three-match series. In his last Ranji Trophy match for Hyderabad against Punjab, he picked up seven wickets. But he has been in stellar form with the red ball while representing India A since July.

Kaul has played three ODIs and two T20Is, with his last worldwide match during the Asia Cup in September in the UAE, where he played only one match, against Afghanistan. Among global batsmen, Ross Taylor and Martin Guptill have retained their third and 14th positions after scoring 281 and 153 runs, respectively, while New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has dropped out of the top-10 to 11th position.

India are slated to face Australia in three ODIs which begins with the first ODI on January 12 in Sydney, followed by the second ODI on January 15 in Adelaide and the third ODI being on January 18 in Melbourne. The five-match ODI series against the Black Caps will get underway from January 23, and the tour will then end with three T20Is (February 6, 8 and 10).
