A Utah teenager attempting a viral media challenge based on Netflix's hit Bird Box movie is being blamed for a parkway crash involving two cars.

The driver veered into oncoming traffic and struck a passenger auto. The side airbags of the HR-V appear to be deployed.

Layton Police spokesman Lt. Travis Lyman told CBS News that a 17-year-old girl was driving with a 16-year-old passenger at the time of the crash.

"Bird Box" is a recently released Netflix drama featuring Sandra Bullock where a woman and her children live in an apocalyptic world that requires them to cover their eyes to avoid evil in order to escape. Luckily no injuries, ' the post continued.

This viral challenge mirrors the premise of the Sandra Bullock-led horror that sees survivors utilize blindfolds to navigate a post-apocalyptic hellscape, lest they spot a malevolent force that turns its victims suicidal.

Proof of LIFE: Scientists record mysterious radio signals from deep space
It's believed there could be about 1,000 FRBs in the sky every day. "Now we're showing, no, at least one other repeats". FRBs are short, bright flashes of radio waves, which appear to be coming from nearly halfway across the Universe.

Videos of people trying to do things while blindfolded have attracted widespread attention online, and Netflix tweeted a warning about the challenge last week. The company sent out a tweet on January 2, urging people not to participate in the fad.

Layton Police said that a 17-year-old girl was driving down Utah's Layton Parkway on Monday when she made a decision to cover her eyes with her beanie to participate in the so-called "Bird Box Challenge" and immediately lost control of her grey truck.

The challenge "really hasn't been that unsafe, but inevitably somebody's going to do the monumentally stupid thing that is driving while blindfolded", a Colorado State Patrol officer said in a video message.

He said it was a warning he never thought he would have to give - don't drive while blindfolded.
