Coming to America 2 is 'officially moving forward' with Eddie Murphy

Coming to America

Paramount Pictures have finally found a director for their Coming to America sequel in Craig Brewer. Although there has been no official word on further casting, the producers hope to bring back much of the original cast, including Arsenio Hall as the Prince's loyal assistant Semmi and John Amos as Mr. McDowell, as well as Jones; Sinclair, sadly, passed away in 1995. The excitement that surrounds these rumors is a testament to our enduring love for Eddie Murphy, while the fact that they nearly ever pan out is a testament to just how hard it is to get him to sign onto a new project.

The 57-year-old comedian went on to reveal that the film has already locked in Craig Brewer, who directed him in the forthcoming film, Dolemite.

The screenplay for Coming to America 2 is being rewritten by black-ish creator and Girls Trip writer Kenya Barris. People have been excited for Coming To America 2 since it was announced, but fans were tired whether Eddie Murphy would return for the leading role.

In the three decades since the original, much has happened that would serve as flawless comic fodder for Akeem's return trip to America. "We've assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an awesome job on Dolemite, and I'm looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen".

Chris Jericho Wouldn't Have Signed With AEW Without A TV Deal
It came down to AEW offering him a better deal, which allowed Jericho to work his cruise and with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. We know them, but your average fan doesn't.

The story sees Akeem returning to America when he learns of a long-lost son and unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda. While a release date has yet to be determined, production looks to begin in 2019. Murphy was apparently eager to work with Brewer again and Coming to America 2 provided that opportunity.

What will Coming to America 2 be about? "He is a true auteur and we couldn't be more thrilled to have him on board".
