Leeds United spy: Derby County confirm reports of training ground incident

Derby manager Frank Lampard

The pliers were reportedly used to access the training ground.

Derby County have said the person police spoke to acting suspiciously outside their training ground on Thursday was an employee of Leeds United's football staff.

Championship leaders Leeds host sixth-placed Derby (LIVE on ESPN+, 2:40 pm ET), but the build-up to the match has been dominated by reports that a person was arrested for cutting a hole in the fence and spying on the final prematch training session for Lampard's side.

Derby are now in sixth position, while Leeds are league leaders just eight points ahead.

The club says they are in discussions with Leeds over the incident.

"Despite media reports, no damage to the fence was found, and the man was stopped outside the grounds".

Actor Craig McLachlan Charged By Victoria Police class= next-head
He also released the song Mona (I Need You Baby) and toured the United Kingdom and Europe with his band Check 1-2. Mr McLachlan denied the claims, suggesting they were made for "financial reasons" or to "gain notoriety".

"At this time no further comment will be made".

Earlier a Derbyshire Police statement had confirmed a man was removed from a position near the club's training ground.

Leeds are yet to release a statement of their own, replying to the claims.

Leeds, who thrashed Derby 4-1 in the league meeting in August, have lost their last three games in all competitions and sit two points clear of Norwich at the top of the table. But that has been the case in seasons past, with the end of the campaign Derby's weakness.

Derby also reached the fourth round of the Carabao Cup beating Manchester United at Old Trafford before going out to Lampard's old club Chelsea, while also drawing with Southampton in the third round of the FA Cup.
