The Division 2 will release on the Epic Store, not Steam

The Division 2 for PC Will Not Come to Steam Launching on Epic Games Store Instead

The Epic Game Store will be the only third-party PC marketplace to sell The Division 2 outside of Ubisoft's own digital storefront.

The Epic Games Store launched in early December and now offers a curated selection of PC and Mac titles.

Ubisoft has also said that it'll partner with Epic "on additional select titles to be announced during the coming year". And the Epic Games Store is gaining clout awfully quickly, especially now that a title as big as The Division 2 has signed a semi-exclusive deal that excludes its biggest rival.

Turkey says will launch Syria offensive if U.S. delays pullout
Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to disclose the information publicly. However, US officials later indicated the withdrawal could be done over the course of several months.

The Epic Games Store's relatively new effort to take on Valve's Steam juggernaut received a major shot in the arm today.

"We entrust Epic to deliver a smooth journey for our fans, from pre-ordering the game and enjoying our Beta to the launch..." If The Division 2 proves as popular, that's a significant cut to income for Valve when the game launches on March 15.

And thus the Epic Games store was born, but save for one notable exclusive, it seemed as though Epic would have a long and treacherous road to hoe to establish itself. As for why Ubisoft would dump Steam? Ubisoft's second foray into the post-apocalypse is now available for pre-order from Epic's new store-front, which was announced late past year and offers an 88/12% revenue share with developers. A statement given to Polygon, however, states that the company "has no plans to release The Division 2 on Steam". Epic said it will "work to integrate key components of Ubisoft's Uplay and Epic's online services to provide gamers from both ecosystems with more seamless social features and interoperability". While a welcome move for many a budget conscious gamer, it will be interesting to see how many games adopt this approach on Epic's store aside from The Division 2. Ubisoft fully supports Epic and their third-party distribution model, which is in the long-term, beneficial for publishers both large and indie and the video games industry.
