White House Chief of Staff John Kelly to resign

Chief of Staff John Kelly stepping off Air Force One as US President Donald Trump arrived to participate in a briefing on Hurricane Florence recovery efforts in Havelock North Carolina

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has been interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller as a part of the sprawling Russian Federation investigation, despite initial objections, according to a new report from CNN.

Kelly did not make an announcement about his plans, and Trump, in his remarks at the gathering, was very gracious to him, the person said. It is true that there is little chemistry remaining between the two men, the people said - even though Trump only months ago asked Kelly to stay on through 2020, and the general agreed.

Trump is further expected to announce Heather Nauert as the new United States ambassador to the UN on Friday, replacing Nikki Haley. CNN and Axios were first to report on Friday that Trump and Kelly's personal relationship had fizzled out this week, claiming the two hadn't spoken in at least two days.

Ayers, who is a seasoned campaign veteran despite his relative youth - he's just 36 - has the backing of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, the president's daughter and son-in-law and senior advisers, for the new role, according to White House officials.

Kelly was not at work Friday morning, though an ally said he was simply taking a day off and would be at the White House for a holiday staff dinner Friday night.

One senior administration official said Friday that it's clear Kelly will be leaving, though it's not certain that the departure was imminent as CNN reported. But each time the two have decided to make amends, even as Kelly's influence has waned.

Ben Simmons' Philadelphia 76ers in loss to Toronto Raptors
The game drew several celebrities who attended Tuesday's gala for Giants of Africa, the charity of Raptors president Masai Ujiri. Toronto's 17 offensive rebounds were a season high. "If you try to turn it on versus the good teams, it's very hard to do that".

Kelly spent more than four decades rising through the Marine Corps ranks before retiring in 2016 as a four-star general.

But those efforts also miffed the president and some of his most influential outside allies, who had grown accustomed to unimpeded access.

He assumed his current position in July 2017 after being promoted from US Secretary of Homeland Security - a job he was appointed to after President Trump was inaugurated.

Trouble surrounded Kelly before he began his stint as chief of staff.
