Watch Russia Unveil Its Brand New Laser Weapon

Peresvet laser system

"We can talk a lot about laser weapons, and the films were made a long time ago, and was written a fantastic book, and know it all, but the fact that these systems began to enter service, really is today's reality", - said the Deputy Chairman of the government of the Russian Federation on the military-industrial complex Yuri Borisov. "But experts will understand that the presence of such weapons systems a multiple expands capabilities of Russian Federation, it is multiple in the provision of its security", - said the President.

Russia's new Peresvet laser weapon systems have been put on combat duty, the Defense Ministry's Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper reported Wednesday.

The military began taking possession of the first shipments past year as part of Russia's ongoing military modernisation programme, according to The Moscow Times, and there is speculation the lasers could shoot down incoming missiles and aircraft.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was the first to announce the creation of the Russian combat laser in his address to the Federal Assembly (parliament) on March 1, 2018. It is not even in the early production stages. The Peresvet laser systems received by the troops are stationed near places of permanent deployment, which are fitted out with the infrastructure necessary for combat duty.

Wilder Wants Rematch With Fury 'ASAP'
Reiss said he was certain that Fury wasn't knocked out despite lying motionless as he began his count. He indicated the rematch might happen as early as March or April.

"We are one step ahead our rivals", Putin added without providing any evidence. The laser combat system was named Peresvet after Alexander Peresvet, a medieval Russian warrior monk.

The Russian defence ministry posted a video of the weapon back in July, before it had officially entered service.

It's unclear how operational the laser system is. What exactly it does has been the subject of much speculation.

Stoltenberg said that although Russian Federation has a last chance to comply, "we must also start to prepare for a world without the treaty", which was the first to abolish a whole category of weapons.
