Trump lashes out at Russian Federation probe ahead of expected new details

"Totally clears the President".

Prosecutors in both of the Cohen cases were required to submit separate memos yesterday on his cooperation to U.S. District Judge William Pauley in Manhattan, who will decide on the former lawyer's sentence on December 12. Though Cohen had previously implicated Trump in the payments, the prosecutors now are linking Trump to the scheme and backing up Cohen's allegations.

In hours of meetings with prosecutors, Cohen detailed his intimate involvement in an array of episodes, including some that directly touch the president, that are at the center of investigations into campaign finance violations and potential collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. And Mueller's team will also be disclosing what they say former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort lied about when his plea deal fell apart last month.

While the willful tax evasion and making false statements to a financial institution charges have nothing to do with Trump, the illegal campaign contributions and making false statements to Congress were related to his campaign.

Cohen told prosecutors he never followed up on the Putin invitation, though the offer bore echoes of a March 2016 proposal presented by Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos, who broached to other advisers the idea of a Putin encounter.

In new tweets yesterday, Trump accused federal investigators and senior officials of having conflicts of interest, without offering evidence.

"The government's filings in Mr. Cohen's case tell us nothing of value that wasn't already known", Sanders said. He has said he did so to stay in sync with Trump's political messaging, and that he consulted with the White House while preparing to testify to Congress.

"In particular, and as Cohen himself has now admitted, with respect to both payments, he acted in coordination with and at the direction of Individual-1", they added, referring to Trump.

That was a reference to a proposed Moscow real estate deal that prosecutors say could have netted Trump's business hundreds of millions of dollars.

Government tax takes at record high with France in top spot - OECD
The tax-to-GDP ratio rose in 19 of the 34 OECD countries that provided data for 2017, and the OECD average is higher than ever. Taxes in Korea were found to be relatively less burdensome past year compared to other OECD countries.

Mueller said that discussions about the potential Moscow development were relevant to the investigation because they occurred "at a time of sustained efforts by the Russian government to interfere with the USA presidential election".

President Donald Trump is marking what's expected to be a busy day for special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation by launching a Twitter broadside against the prosecutor and his team. But he says it won't be complete until Mueller issues his report.

Mueller also detailed alleged lies told by Manafort during interviews with prosecutors and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Manafort, who has pleaded guilty to several counts, violated his plea agreement by telling "multiple discernible lies" to prosecutors, they said.

A heavily redacted court filing said that Manafort's "lies" included untruths about his dealings with Konstantin Kilimnik, a business associate who U.S. officials suspect is a Russian intelligence operative, and about his contacts with Trump administration officials after striking a plea agreement. Cohen admitted last week to lying to Congress by saying discussions about a Trump Tower in Moscow ended in January 2016 when in fact they stretched into that June, well into the USA campaign.

John Dean was reacting to the memo released by federal prosecutors into the case involving Trump's ex-attorney Michael Cohen.

However, in the crimes to which he pleaded guilty in August, he was motivated "by personal greed and repeatedly used his power and influence for deceptive ends".

"While the office agrees that Cohen should receive credit for his assistance in the [special counsel] investigation, that credit should not approximate the credit a traditional cooperating witness would receive, given, among other reasons, Cohen's affirmative decision not to become one", they wrote. They said that "reflects Cohen's extensive, deliberate and serious criminal conduct".

Due to his help, Mueller declined to recommend additional jail time for Cohen for lying to Congress.
