Manchester City complete signing of United States of America goalkeeper Zack Steffen

Zack Steffen: Manchester City close to signing MLS goalkeeper for £7m

United States global goalkeeper Zack Steffen is close to completing a move to Manchester City from Columbus Crew, sources have told ESPN FC.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper will join the Premier League champions in a move worth $7.5m (£6m), although that could rise to $10m if Steffen meets certain objectives.

Manchester City have reportedly tied up a deal to sign United States global goalkeeper Zack Steffen.

Former Knicks coach Derek Fisher has a new coaching job
The Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA have hired Derek Fisher as head coach, the team announced Wednesday. This will be Fisher's second head coaching opportunity.

It is understood that City are not looking at loaning Steffen to their sister club and Columbus' MLS rivals, New York City FC, but he may have to go on loan somewhere if they can not get a work permit. LaLiga side Girona, one of City's sister clubs, are thought to be his most likely destination though Patrick Vieira - who previously managed City Football Group's New York City FC - is also said to be interested in taking him to current club, OGC Nice.

Steffen's transfer is one of the largest ever paid for an MLS player, and has shattered the previous record for an MLS goalkeeper, which was the $3 million Manchester United paid for Tim Howard in 2003.

The 23-year-old, who is expected to cost around £7m, made the first of his six global appearances for the United States earlier this year.
