Tyler Perry is in the spirit of the season.

"I was trying to do this anonymously", Perry said in a Twitter video posted on Thursday.

Perry took to his social media accounts to explain that he meant to keep the kind gesture completely anonymous, but the word quickly got out.

A tweet from Tyler Perry announced the kind move, as the actor known for his famous "Madea" franchise confirmed he was paying off $434,000 worth of layaway orders in Georgia. "You went above and beyond".

"It's time for me to kill that old bitch, I'm exhausted, man", he said.

"I know it's hard times, everyone's struggling and I'm just really, really grateful to be able to be in a position to this".

"Merry Christmas, everybody, you have to go into the Walmart and get your layaway, pay a penny - one penny - and you get your layaway", he grinned.

The company was quick to express its gratitude for his act of kindness. "So, Merry Christmas to everybody".

'Thank you so much!

We're told Perry dropped $178k at one store in ATL and another $256k at a nearby store in Douglasville.
