NCAA puts OR on two years' probation

Oregon athletic department put on probation

For the Men's and Women's Basketball Programs respectively, it was similar.

The NCAA committee on infractions placed Oregon's athletic department on two years' probation on Wednesday for violations in its men's and women's basketball, football and women's track and field programs.

Head coach Kelly Graves of the Oregon Ducks in action during the UConn Huskies Vs Oregon Ducks, NCAA Women's Division 1 Basketball Championship game on March 27th, 2017 at the Webster Bank Arena, Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The decision states that Graves "failed to monitor and promote an atmosphere of compliance" in allowing an assistant strength and conditioning coach to participate in on-court activities, which the decision saying it came "at the head coach's request".

The NCAA found men's coach Dana Altman failed to properly monitor his director of basketball operations, who took part in or observed at least 64 individual voluntary workouts in violation of NCAA rules.

Additionally, the NCAA noted that an electronic reader board in the football team facilities was improperly used for recruiting purposes. "In all of these cases, our compliance monitoring program identified the issues and they were self-reported to the NCAA".

And Stephen Innes, head of Asia-Pacific trade at OANDA said there was "complete confusion" over details of the Trump-Xi deal. MSCI's all-country world index climbed 0.8 per cent in its sixth straight day of gains and hit its highest since November 9.

Let me start by saying that the violations were all self-reported past year. OR compliance initially approved the practice, but the Pac-12 Conference contacted the Ducks and told them it might violate NCAA rules.

As of 3:15 p.m. ET, Oregon has not released a statement on the findings. At that time, the university said it self-reported the infractions and acknowledged that they occurred, but disagreed with the level that the NCAA assigned to some of them, including the charges involving the head coaches. The men's program also allowed the director of basketball operations to impermissibly participate in and observe workouts.

A women's track and field athlete will have her results vacated for the period of her ineligibility due to academic misconduct within the University. So the instructor changed the grade to a B-minus, based on the work the athlete had completed to date, much of which was completed after the course was over. The university removed the athlete from competition and reported the violation to the NCAA, which determined it was an impermissible academic benefit.

OR self-reported many of these rule violations previously, while the football program violation dated back to the Mark Helfrich era. The Women's Program must also reduce the number of countable couches by one at regular practice for 10 hours.

Both programs have each been hit a $5,000 fine plus one percent of each of their budgets.
