Jake Gyllenhaal Teases Role As 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Villain Mysterio

Spider-Man Homecoming

The actor, 37, used his first-ever Instagram post to announce his role in the action film.

Jake captioned the video, "I just realized I'm not playing Spider-Man".

For a fair while now, people have strongly suspected that Jake Gyllenhaal would be playing villain Mysterio in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far from Home film.

Gyllenhaal had been rumoured to be in the film and confirmed the news on Instagram on Wednesday.

The video shows a surprised Jake Gyllenhaal with a copy of Marvel Comics' The Amazing Spider-Man #311 featuring "The Return of the Man Called Mysterio!".

Kelly’ Documentary Screening Evacuated Over Gun Threat
Kelly's alleged sexual misconduct over the years was set to premiere in New York City this week before things took a unsafe turn. This was an outside inside-job to me; someone on the outside does not want what's going on on the inside to be completed.

In the comic, Mysterio tries to convince Spidey he caused a man's death, The Hollywood Reporter reports, noting that it's unclear if this plot will carry over into the film.

It's good fun, and a sign that we can expect the marketing for Spider-Man: Far From Home to start ramping up.

Anyone who's seen "Avengers: Infinity War" knows (spoiler alert!) that several of Earth's mightiest heroes were turned to dust when Thanos (Josh Brolin) finally completed his gauntlet and snapped his fingers, effectively killing half of the inhabitants of the galaxy, including Spider-Man (Tom Holland).

Spider-Man: Far From Home is a sequel to 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming and is due to be released in July 2019.
